RepRap @ Hacking at Random 2009
I was honoured to present RepRap with Adrian Bowyer, who is the one who came up with the idea of creating a self-replicating machine that would ‘live’ in symbiosis with humans.
Presenting our RepRaps at HAR was a big success. A lot of people were interested and several even stated that they would also begin building one. Spreading the enthusiasm about this project among geeks is not that hard a thing to do. 🙂
Here are some pictures:Thanks to Bas van Abel (Waag Society) for taking so many great pictures without us noticing it.
My RepRap had printed throughout the event except when I was attending talks or buying myself a tent (I was still missing the foundation from Mazlow’s hierarchy). This gave a lot of people the opportunity to see the process actually working.
I would like to publicly thank Marius Kintel and Philipp for their hospitality and friendliness at HAR. It was great to see you guys IRL!
The event is also mentioned on the main RepRap blog. Next events up are:
- SHiFT, public event (Lisbon, Portugal)
- Masterclass Open Innovation, non-public event (Deurne, NL)
- Media Ecologies: Workshop on Collaborative Platforms, Social & Material, non-public event, preliminary (Manchester, UK)
- User and open innovation workshop, non-public, preliminary (Nottingham, UK)
Below is a player that shows my 3D printing live (only when it says LIVE):
