Me and my family recently moved to Schijndel, where we have a beautiful house with a piece of land around it.

In addition to being a parent and husband, which is great, I’ve got lots of projects that get attention. The main focus is on:

  • Turning a grazing field into a Food Forest. See Lekker Leven Land.nl (it’s in Dutch a.t.m.). This includes learning about food forests, planting, building a community. The food forest is syntropic and not just for flora, also fauna (mushrooms, but also animals such as chicken, etc.). I’m also building the chicken coop for them myself.
  • Continue to “grow” as a human being and feeding my curiosity about what this is all about. Apart from living, I do a lot of meta-living. Being in wonder and awe about life itself, going inside through mediation, breathwork and also in group ceremonies. Experiencing how we’re connected to others and for our livelihood dependent on a healthy environment.
  • Running my “own cloud” on servers inside a rack of my own. This rack has it own fiber connection, runs VPS’ for home automation, a NAS, n8n, security video recorder, and many more things. The number of services is expanding and it’s a way of “exiting the cloud” or at the very least, depending on external cloud services less. I used to wear a shirt saying: “there is no cloud, only other people’s computers”. I wanted to use more open source stuff instead of renting services and having my data all out there.
  • I currently run 1 business: Stekker (the word for electrical plug in Dutch), for which I’ve recently hired a CEO, which allows me to focus more on the product & technical aspects of it. Stekker helps the grid and enables companies with a limited grid connection to focus on running their business and the charging of vehicles, batteries and controlled generation of solar or wind power is all managed for them. We ensure that the lowest priced, cleanest electricity is used while helping the grid, getting paid for it and preventing costly (and in the Netherlands usually impossible) upgrades to the grid connection. Without that grid upgrade, the company is hamstrung and may have to relocate outside of the Netherlands (which happens more often these days).
